Between 22nd October and 2nd November 2018, Masterclass Sports Tours welcomed 521 students and 72 staff from 13 different schools to Valkenburg in Holland. These schools took part in everything from training to tobogganing and lacrosse to laser tag in actioned packed week’s full of sport and activities. The tired students left Valkenburg with an array of new sporting skills and tactics to take back to school with them, as well as the experience of playing against teams from other countries. 

WEEK 1

Week 1 saw training sessions for netball, football and hockey. We took across a total of 17 experienced sports staff who led training sessions, attended fixtures and organised and officiated a week-ending tournament. The feedback from schools on the sports staff was excellent and we recognise just how integral they are to the success of a tour. 29 football and 28 hockey fixtures were played across 3 evenings, some of which were against academies of professional clubs; MVV Maastricht, Roda JC and FC Sittard.

WEEK 2

In week 2, we welcomed hockey and lacrosse teams to Valkenburg, where the weather had turned a little colder. This cold weather didn’t affect the enthusiasm of the students for their first training session of the week on Tuesday morning. We held training sessions in both Germany and Holland, and these sessions were led by Dutch and American coaches. During the week, we had a total of 14 fixtures which were played in three different countries (Germany, Holland and Belgium). The teams all commented on the superb  hospitality of the clubs, one of which offered special Halloween themed drinks and snacks after the game.
